Who Knew?

This post is a month late and a dollar short, but I want to touch on the topic of New Year’s Resolutions. Almost everybody makes them, but it seems not everybody will keep them. Why is this? Mainly because we get sidetracked with everyday life and lose sight of our goals, or maybe we just don’t have the motivation we need to stay focused to achieve our goals. I have been guilty of this myself on more than one occasion. BUT this year is different. This year I do plan on having a “new year new me” mentality. 2014 has been a great year, but I plan on making the very best out of this one.

In January of 2014, my beautiful wife and I found out that we were expecting our very first biological child. On that following Valentine’s Day, we discovered that we were going to be blessed with a baby girl. Fast forward to September 30th, 2014 and we welcomed little Magnolia Rose Thomas into our lives. She truly is the cutest baby I have ever seen, and I’m not just saying that because she is ours. She truly is a beautiful gift from God and we are deeply blessed.

We never would have guessed that Christmas of 2013 would have found us bringing in the New Year finding out about this little angel. As I stated above, she truly is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen, but I’m sure it helps when her mother is stunningly beautiful as well.

Told you she was beautiful. Back off guys..she’s mine. Anyways, back to the topic at hand. Finding out that we were expecting was truly a life changing event. We both knew that we wanted to be the best possible parents we could be for this little baby, and in order to do so, we needed to make some healthier choices in our lives. Luckily for us, a Planet Fitness franchise just opened in our neighborhood (and no, I’m not getting paid to endorse them). We both decided it was time to get in better shape, not only for us, but for our family. So at the beginning of January 2015, we decided it was time to step it up. We signed up for memberships and have been going strong for almost a month now. I’m proud that we have stuck with it, and I have already started noticing small changes in my weight. I’m not looking to become the next Abercrombie model or anything, but a leaner and toner me is on the horizon. Maybe if I get the chance, I’ll put up progress pics as we go along, but until then, we still have more work to do until that point is reached. We are both feeling better, and we are both noticing a difference in our weight too. Inch by inch, we’re getting there. It’s also a wonderful feeling climbing the stairs to the second floor of my house without getting winded. That was embarassing to admit!

I will wrap this up for now and I don’t know if anyone will ever see it, but if you happen to stumble across it, feel free to leave a comment and say hello. I hope to post regularly if time permits, so please check back often. I’ll be sharing more about me and some of my photography as well, so do come on back. Until next time, thanks for taking the time to read my little words on the web. I hope to see you again soon.
